Another year in the books

The weekend could not have gone better. Eric and Emily were the best hosts and everyone who attended had such a great time. It's been a year since I've seen most of the people who came out again this year, but it's like we haven't had a moment apart. Tons of laughs, inappropriate moments at times, but it couldn't have been better.

For the first time in probably 15 years (for me) we decided to hit up Georgetown Road Saturday night before Race Day. You see all sorts of individuals....ALL SORTS. The Indianapolis 500 has the best "people watching" of any other sporting event. The Coca-Cola lot is packed with thousands of people in tents & campers...all enjoying the weekend with their favorite cocktail in hand. We decided that night to walk what seemed to be 5 miles to visit some friends that were parked in the lot, not exactly sure if it was a great idea or not. =)

The morning of the race was just like years past - the drivers are all cut out and put into a hat and for a $5 buy-in you can choose someone to cheer for. Like Dan, you can get someone who isn't so hot (Sarah Fisher)...poor guy - - or you can get someone who stands a chance (Helio or Dario). Of course, when I picked from the hat and didn't receive my Alex Lloyd...I traded up with the person who got him. Now, I know he wasn't going to run away with the victory, but I had to have him. The winner of the buy-in went away with $100...not too shabby.

The race was loud as ever, but it's something every single person needs to experience just once. Even if you hate racing...you will never see anything else like it. Drivers zooming by you at 230+ speeds...it's amazing! But be ready to not talk to the people you are with for several hours, you can even scream to hear the person next to you. I get chills just thinking about it*

Here's the group - - all packed into 3 cars - - what a joy!

Alex Lloyd - Round 2

That's right everyone, the 94th running of the Indianapolis 5o0 is happening this year! In just a few short weeks I, along with thousands of hillbilly race fans, will endure the love and fascination of cars going from 0-100mph in less than 4 seconds. Drivers will reach 240+mph, and at 238mph drivers will cover the size of a football field per second - if the driver blinks he/she will miss 50 feet of track. Zoom Zoom!! I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

We've started the yearly email forwards to our group of 20+, and the jokes just keep coming. You may remember from last year, it was my first time attending the race in about 14 years. The good news?!...it was just how I remembered it...LOUD. This race is something everyone should experience at least once, that is why this year I will be bringing a newbie along with me. Oh he best get ready, I can't wait to see his reaction on the first lap. Love it or hate it...he will be sticking around for the entire race.

For the 2nd year in a row I will be cheering on the Australian boy...Mr. Alex Lloyd. Thank goodness this year he isn't sponsored by an Energy Drink (had too many of those last year). This time around it's Boy Scouts of America. My T-Shirts (yes plural...one for Saturday's shin-dig and one for Race Day) have been made and shipped.

The word "Excited" doesn't even come close to cutting it.

Just a few more weeks....

Almost like...27 Dresses

It all started a year ago, when one of my dear friends decided to tie the knot - it wasn't a bridesmaid dress she wanted me to wear, oh no - in fact it was a bit more nerve racking than that. She wanted me to make her beautiful for the big day, along with several of her bridesmaids. Makeup has always been a hidden love of mine, even though I stick to the same 'ole shades and colors. It was a great experience, and who knew that it would come in handy for the rest of my summer....my summer of wedding bliss*

Lets see, there were two great friends, one awesome cousin, and an even more incredible mom. Two speeches, four rehearsal dinners....and shall I mention four incredibly fun receptions. Getting all dolled up, no matter how much of a tom-boy/natural you think you are, is always glamorous. From the hair to the nails, and the makeup to the walking down the aisle...all of which are kind of a big deal =)

It was fun to see the dress choices of each wedding, from girlie to classy - I'm pretty sure I was seen in every style one could imagine. I loved it! Not to mention, each dress added a bit more excitement to my dress wardrobe - which is saying a whole heck of a lot...considering my closet is full of jeans and t-shirts.

I mentioned the 2 speeches, talk about sweaty palms for sure! I even found myself jumping up and down at my best friends wedding just to calm the nerves. Sad to say...that didn't work. I was a blubbering mess at my mom's wedding, but then again...Eric cried too -- he's such a man. Tears of joy, of course! I'm happy to say everyone exchanged their vows, and there are 4 more amazing married couples in this world.

....Did I mention the other 3 weddings I attended...along with those 4 I was in!?

wouldn't have changed it for anything! (now...this summer...we are at 4 weddings and counting...keep 'em comin')

...She's baaaack*

Please excuse my absence...it's been several months since my last post and a lot has transpired. Between my 8 full months living in Indianapolis, my mom getting married, Eric and my Dad both have gotten engaged - - and finding out that I only have a YEAR left of walking into Ivy Tech's wonderful glass doors. (insert sigh of relief and huge happy scream here)

Who knows what will be posted as I continue ranting and raving of my wonderful life.

Get ready for the random comments and photos..
